As a small child, Jeff spent a great deal of time exploring his grandfathers basement. His grandfather, a self taught astronomer and telescope maker, packed his basement from floor to ceiling with home made electrical, mechanical, and astronomical marvels. Jeff was freely allowed to explore this Jules Verne-like environment. As time passed, Jeff came to realize that the fascination with the basement was part of a greater interest in science, fantasy, technology, and story telling. It was probably the earliest influence in Jeff's decision to pursue a career in Sci-Fi/Fantasy art, but was not the only one. Jeff has been immersed in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre ever since picking up his first Frazetta book as a young boy. He decided on art as a career path in high school and went on to earn a degree in illustration from San Jose State University. Jeff has learned much through collaborative work with other artists around the world, and has had the opportunity to do work with friends and fellow artists involved in sports design, sci-fi/fantasy illustration, corporate logo, web, and media design. Jeff attends museums, Sci-Fi conventions, and works on promotional paintings and illustrations in his remaining free time. |
